STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ACCIDENTS INVOLVING DIGNITARY

                                        MOTORCADE IN NORWALK CONNECTICUT

Connecticut State Police Troop G is investigating two separate motor vehicle accidents involving a dignitary’s motorcade that was proceeding northbound on Route 15, in the left lane, just south of Exit 38 in Norwalk.

The motorcade consisting of several vehicles - one carrying former President Clinton - was slowing for traffic on northbound Route 15 when a civilian vehicle that was following behind the motorcade, rear ended the last car in the motorcade pushing that car into the motorcade vehicle directly in front of it.

A second accident occurred immediately thereafter when a second civilian vehicle traveling in the right lane passed the minor accident involving motorcade cars in the left lane nd sideswiped a third vehicle in the motorcade.  The civilian car then veered off the right shoulder and up the embankment and into the tree line.  The occupant of the third vehicle that veered off the roadway was transported to Norwalk Hospital with a complaint of minor pain.

At no time during these two accidents was the former President in any danger.  The motorcade continued to its destination uninterrupted.

Both accidents are being investigated by Connecticut State Police.
