STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ACCIDENTAL DROWNING IN KENT

On Sunday, June 6, at approximately 18:05 hours, Troop L was notified of a possible drowning in the Bulls Bridge area of the Housatonic River in Kent.

After an extensive rescue effort, a 16-year-old female from New York was recovered from the river after being submerged for more than one hour.

The victim has been identified as Maria Sanchez Montoya, DOB 3/26/1994.

A postmortem examination of the body will be conducted by the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner.

The State Police investigation into this incident is complete; the drowning was determined to be accidental.
