STATE POLICE IDENTIFY DRIVER IN STONINGTON TRUCK ACCIDENT

State Police have identified the driver in a tractor trailer accident from Saturday, March 20.

Troopers report that Robert Allen O’bleness (DOB 6/2/1961) of Wichita, Kansas, was traveling on Interstate 95 in Stonington when the truck he was driving traveled across the left shoulder and struck a metal beam guardrail, rupturing and igniting the vehicle’s fuel tanks.

The vehicle jackknifed as it left the roadway with the box trailer sliding down an embankment and the tractor being pushed sideways into a bridge abutment. The tractor and box trailer separated. The tractor was consumed by fire and the driver was unable to exit the vehicle and died at the scene.
