                   STATE TROOPERS ARREST 4 IN STOLEN CAR 

   Today, 07/24/10, at about 11:30 a.m., Connecticut Troopers observed a suspicious car on Interstate 95 and attempted to stop the car after determining that it had been stolen in Rhode Island.  The stolen car fled from Troopers and Troopers terminated the chase due to safety concerns.  All Troopers and area Police agencies were advised that the stolen car was observed in the area. 

   On 07/24/10, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a business owner on Route 1 in Old Saybrook, near the location of the abandoned vehicle, reported observing four individuals hiding behind his building.  Troopers and Old Saybrook Police Officers responded to the location.  Using State Police and Old Saybrook K-9 teams, a search of the area took place in an attempt to located the four suspects.


   Just before 4:00 p.m., the four suspects were located by Troopers and Old Saybrook Officers and all four were taken into custody without incident after linking them to the vehicle.


   All were transported to State Police Troop F in Westbrook for processing on a variety of criminal and motor vehicle related charges.

   
   The vehicle operator, Roger Cabral, was held on $100,000 bond for larceny by possession, interfering, reckless driving, engaging in pursuit, and evading responsibility after being involved in a minor accident.

   The juveniles will be turned over to their parents and will be assigned juvenile court dates. 

   The stolen vehicle was reported to be taken out of Providence, Rhode Island.  Rhode Island authorities will continue their investigation and additional charges will be filed in that jurisdiction.
