               STATE POLICE STATEWIDE NARCOTICS TASK FORCE 
                EXECUTES NARCOTICS SEARCH WARRANT IN MERIDEN

   After a long term undercover narcotics investigation into marijuana trafficking and other related crimes in the Fairfield and New Haven County area, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force developed information that the accused in this case, Jason Baggetta of 54 Rolling Hills Rd. Meriden, was trafficking in large quantities of marijuana from the Meriden area. 

   On Friday, 03/14/08, State Police detectives arrested Baggetta after a brief struggle with undercover detectives in the driveway of his and his parents’ Meriden residence while the accused was attempting to sell several pounds of marijuana. 

   A search and seizure warrant was executed at the residence, 54 Rolling Hills Rd, Meriden, and SNTF Detectives seized more than 200 pounds of marijuana, more than $160,000 in cash, two assault type rifles, one 2008 Cadillac, and numerous drug records showing a details relative to the high volume marijuana operation.

   Accused BAGGETTA was charged with Possession of Marijuana over one kilo, Possession of marijuana over one kilo with intent to sell, Operating a Drug factory, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault on a Police Officer, and Interfering with a Police Officer.

   Accused BAGGETTA was held on a $1 million dollar bond the night of the arrest. He was presented in Superior Court in Meriden on 03/14/08. 

   This investigation is continuing and more arrests are anticipated.
