Arrest Made in Arson of a Barn in Hampton CT

On Sunday February 3rd, 2008, troopers from the Troop D Barracks in Danielson, received and responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at #45 Old King’s Highway in Hampton, Connecticut.  Troopers immediately responded and discovered a barn at that address fully engulfed in flames.  Subsequently, Detectives assigned to the State Police Fire Marshal’s Unit, Local Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence at the scene of a suspected arson fire.  A K-9 team assigned to the Troop D Barracks responded to the scene and initiated a dog track in an attempt to locate offender(s) and physical evidence.  The dog track (initiated at the fire scene) led investigators to a residence located on Kenyon Road.  Inside the residence, an individual by the name of Thomas Nedweden was located and interviewed.

On Tuesday February 5th, 2008 at 01:25 Hours, Detectives assigned to the Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the Connecticut State Police Fire Marshals Unit, arrested Thomas M. Nedweden (DOB: 03-04-1980) a 27 year old white male currently residing at 30 Kenyon Road in the Town of Hampton, Connecticut on an arrest warrant for his involvement during the incident reported on February 3rd, 2008.  Detectives processed the offender at Troop D in Danielson on the following charges:

Charge #1:  Arson in the First Degree

Charge #2:  Criminal Attempt to Commit Arson in the First Degree

Charge #3:  Criminal Attempt to Commit Arson in the First Degree

Charge #4:  Criminal Attempt to Commit Arson in the First Degree

The offender is being held at Troop D in Danielson on a $200,000.00 Bond and is scheduled for arraignment on February 5th, 2008 at 1000 hours at Danielson Superior Court.  The investigation is on going. ###end###
