EnCon Identifies Boater in Deadly Connecticut River Accident

Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) today released the identity of the individual involved in a boating accident on Friday, August 10, 2018 along the Connecticut River. At approximately 2:45 pm witnesses at Haddam Meadows State Park Boat Launch saw a small open skiff that had capsized not far away, with a man face down in the water.  The man was determined to be unconscious, and was brought to the state launch where CPR was begun and eventually continued by arriving EMS and Haddam Fire Department personnel.  The 64 year old male, identified as Gunnar Grenman of Higganum, was taken by Haddam Ambulance to Middlesex Hospital Emergency Room, Middletown, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 4 p.m. His vessel was secured as evidence, and an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  EnCon Police continue to investigate this incident.
