Overview
The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) is committed to ensuring that arts venues, as well as arts programs, are truly inclusive and more accessible to everyone in our communities.
Toward that end, we compile and regularly update a listing of resources that can help others develop and implement plans that make both the creation — and the enjoyment — of the arts more accessible to those with disabilities.
Resources for Artists with Disabilities
Highlighted below are some of the key resources that are available for artists with disabilities:
- The National Endowment for the Arts offers a variety of resources, including information on careers in the arts for people with disabilities, laws and compliance standards, training programs and much more.
- The National Arts and Disability Center provides a number of resources, including grants for artists with disabilities.
- Disability Rights Connecticut, Inc., an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to identifying and eliminating barriers for people with disabilities through a variety of programs and services.
- Commission on the Deaf & Hearing Impaired (CDHI) serves persons with hearing impairments.
