If my town decides to waive the building permit fee for construction of our town’s school, does the town still need to pay the education fee?
Answer:
Yes. The Education Fee is not tied to the permit fee, but rather to the value of construction. If a municipality chooses to waive a building permit fee for any reason, it cannot waive the Education Fee, which is 26 cents per $1,000 value of construction.
