On August 27, 2017 at approximately 8:20 a.m., troopers from Troop C-Tolland responded to Old Stafford Rd. in Tolland for a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, victim #1 stated that two men, Zachary Jurewicz and Eric Rawson, forced entry into his Old Stafford Rd. residence while victim #1 and his juvenile daughter were home. Prior to fleeing the residence, Jurewicz and Rawson stole several items, including a baseball bat which they used to damage victim #1’s property. Jurewicz and Rawson fled the property prior to troopers arriving on scene.

While troopers were speaking with victim #1 on Old Stafford Rd., they were made aware of a similar incident a few streets away.

Troopers also responded to Fernwood Rd. in Tolland for a similar reported disturbance. Upon arrival at the Fernwood Rd. residence, troopers learned that after Jurewicz and Rawson left the Old Stafford Rd. residence and broke into an occupied residence on Fernwood Rd.

Victim #2, of the Fernwood Rd. residence, reported that while she was upstairs in her bedroom she heard two male voices downstairs inside her house. Victim #2 stated that when she left her bedroom she saw Jurewicz and Rawson in her house. Victim #2 reported that one of the men was armed with a baseball bat. After a brief verbal exchange the two men fled the residence with victim #2’s pocketbook and alcohol that they had taken from the downstairs kitchen area. A laptop was also taken from a room above the garage.

In addition, Jurewicz and Rawson stole the top portion of victim #2’s wedding cake which had been stored in the freezer.

Jurewicz and Rawson fled into the woods after leaving victim #2’s residence. Troopers and police officers began a search, and Jurewicz was quickly located by a Connecticut State Police K9. Rawson was located by an Ellington Police Officer who was assisting with the search.
