State Police Detectives Make Arrest in Bolton Stabbing

On September 13, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m., state police detectives from Eastern District Major Crime made an arrest after a lengthy stabbing investigation. The stabbing occurred in Bolton in February 2017.

On February 28, 2017 at approximately 5:30 p.m., troopers from Troop K - Colchester responded to 14 Tunxis Trail in Bolton, CT. for a reported stabbing that had occurred in the roadway.

Upon arrival, troopers located a 51 year old male suffering from multiple stab wounds in and around his torso, head and face. The victim was transported to Hartford Hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

Eastern District Major Crime detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The victim provided information that an acquaintance drove him to Bolton from East Hartford, and once in Bolton, the victim was struck in the head with a tire jack and was repeatedly stabbed in an attempted robbery. The suspect fled the scene leaving the victim in the roadway.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Daniel A Duffy Jr. as the suspect.

Upon conclusion of this extensive investigation, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Duffy who is currently incarcerated at MacDougall-Walker CI in Suffield, CT.

Daniel A. Duffy Jr. (dob 6/30/81) of Suffield, CT. was arrested by Connecticut State Police detectives and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Criminal Attempt to Commit Robbery 1st Degree. Duffy remained held on $500,000.00 bond and transported to Rockville Superior Court for arraignment.

State Police Eastern District Major Crime detectives worked in conjunction with the Tolland County State’s Attorney’s Office.
