Eastern District Major Crime Detectives make Arrest in East Haddam Assault


East Haddam, CT. (October 26, 2017): State Police detectives made an arrest following an assault investigation.
On October 22, 2017 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Troop K-Colchester received a walk-in complaint of an assault that had occurred in East Haddam between two known parties.  During the course of the investigation, a possible location of the suspect was established and Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime obtained a search warrant for the address and an arrest warrant for the accused.

On October 22 at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the State Police Tactical Team assisted in serving the search warrant by making entry into the East Haddam residence as the accused may have access to a firearm.  Upon determining the residence was safe, the scene was turned over to Detectives. 

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 11:20 p.m., the accused, Jared Rennie (age 34) of East Haddam, turned himself in at Troop K and was placed under arrest without incident on the strength of an active arrest warrant and was charged with; Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault 2nd, Threatening 1st, Kidnapping 1st, Unlawful Restraint 1st, Reckless Endangerment 1st, Intentional Cruelty to a Person, Stealing a Firearm, Criminal use of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

Jared Rennie was held on a court set $1,500,00.00 cash/surety bond and was scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on October 25, 2017.  The arrest warrant has been statutorily sealed by a Superior Court Judge.
