State Police Make Arrest In Court House Bomb Threat

Today, 05/03/11, at approximately 10:45 a.m. a telephone threat was received at GA #14, Hartford Superior Court, 101 Lafayette St. Hartford.  The caller indicated a bomb was in the building.

State Police and Hartford Police responded to the courthouse. The courthouse was evacuated and a search of the building was initiated by Troopers, Judicial Marshals, and Hartford officers. State Police K-9 bomb dogs also responded and searched the building. State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to conduct the criminal investigation into this threat.

A trace of the telephone call caused a Hartford Officer to respond to a pay telephone where the call originated. A male suspect was located by the officer and detained.  The investigation determined that the suspect had made a call to the court from the payphone.

Troopers took the accused into custody.  He was transported to Troop-H where he was formally charged and processed.  The accused is being held on $50,000 bond and will appear in Superior Court GA #14 on 05/04/11.
