STATE POLICE RESPOND TO OXFORD PLANE CRASH

On 01/13/10 at 5:00 p.m. State Police Troop A Southbury was notified by Waterbury Oxford Airport Tower that they had lost contact with an airplane making a final approach to the airport.  State Troopers from Troop- A,  Oxford Resident State Trooper, EMS, and Fire all responded to the the area in an effort to locate the possible plane crash. 

At 5:13 p.m. Oxford Fire located at plane crash in an electric substation located off Christian Rd in Oxford. One occupant was located at the crash site.  EMS provided emergency care and transported the sole occupant via ambulance to Waterbury Hospital where shortly after arrival the male occupant of the plane was pronounced dead.

The area was secured by Troopers. The FAA and NTSB both were contacted to respond to the scene to conduct the investigation into the plane crash. 

As a result of the plane crash the power to a portion of Oxford was compromised. CL&P responded to inspect the substation for damage and to restore power to the area.

The deceased has been identified.  He is identified as John W Foster DOB: 4/1/59 of 25 Kentbury Way  Bethesda MD.

State Police are working with Federal authorities to investigate this crash.

The office of the Chief States Medical Examiner will conduct a post mortem examination of the deceased male to determine the manner and cause of death.

The investigation is continuing.
