On 11/24/09, at 10:25 a.m., State Police at Troop L in Litchfield received a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute had taken place in a private home located at 16 East Litchfield Rd., in Litchfield.

Troopers responded to the residence and learned that an armed, male subject, John Lavoie (DOB: 05/10/56), was inside the home and he refused to surrender his weapon and come out.  Troopers secured the exterior of the home.  The State Police Tactical Team was summoned to respond to the scene.

Additional information was learned that a female victim, Shelly Lavoie (DOB-03/29/62), had been in the house, was wounded by gunfire and drove herself to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for treatment.   The victim has since been transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment of non–life threatening injuries.

State Police negotiators have established a dialogue with the male subject. The event is active at this time.
