TROOPER'S CRUISER RAMMED IN PURSUIT

State Police at Troop G were notified by the Hamden Police Department that they were in pursuit of a Honda Accord occupied by one female on I-91.  A Patrol Trooper, Paul Comesanas, observed the Hamden Police pursuit and positioned his State Police cruiser to participate in the pursuit and the attempt to bring the suspect to a safe, controlled stop.

The operator of the suspect car rammed TFC Comesanas’s cruiser at Exit #45 on I-95 Southbound, nearly causing him to lose control of his cruiser. A second trooper attempted to deploy stop sticks at Exit #43 southbound without success.

The suspect vehicle continued south on Interstate 95, exited in Orange and while attempting to re-enter I-95 northbound at entrance #41, the suspect vehicle lost control and came to a stop.  The female suspect refused to follow verbal commands given by TFC Comesanas.  A State Police canine was deployed and extracted the operator from the vehicle.

The accused operator, Miriam N. CONCEPCION (03-18-85) of #557 Woodworth Ave., East Haven, was then taken into police custody. Accused CONCEPCION sustained K-9 bite marks and was transported to Saint Raphael’s Hospital for treatment.

Accused CONCEPION was charged with various motor vehicle charges by Hamden Police and she was turned over to the Connecticut State Police.  CONCEPIONwas charged with Assault on a Police Officer,  Interfering w/ a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment II, Reckless Driving, and Engaging Police in Pursuit.  Accused CONCEPION was held on a $10,000.00 bond to appear today, 12/07/09, in Superior Court on these charges.

Trooper Comesanas was transported via ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital for evaluation.  He was treated and released.
