On 10-10-2009, at approximately 10:40 a.m., State Police from Troop B responded to a bank robbery at the Northwest Community Bank located at the Foothills Plaza on Route 44 in New Hartford, CT.

Troopers determined that a heavy set white male had in fact implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. He then fled the scene in a small Honda-type vehicle, with an accomplice driving.

State Police Western District Major Crime Squad Detectives responded and initated the criminal investigation. As a result of tips from the public, evidence, and interviews with persons in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont, a suspect and co-conspirator was identified.

On 10/15/09, a suspect was identified and it was learned that he was in the custody of Springfield, Massachusetts Police for unrelated charges.  Connecticut State Police Major Crime Detectives interviewed the suspect in Springfield, MA.  At that interview, the suspect provided information about his involvment in the robbery and identified the second suspect involved.  Information was developed that both suspects were also involved in a bank robbery in Vermont.

Connecticut State Police obtained arrest warrants for both suspects from Superior Court in Connecticut.  Both were being held as fugitives from justice in Springfield, MA.
