STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST AND DRUG SEIZURE

The State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force in conjunction with Stratford Police conducted an extensive criminal investigation into Marijuana Sales in Stratford and Bridgeport. Today 11/19/09, a Search and Seizure Warrant was executed at the residence located at #48 Rose Street, second floor in Bridgeport. The accused, Akwesi Jones, was stopped outside the residence about two blocks away and was in possession of Marijuana.

Upon entry of 48 Rose Street, State Police Detectives found that four small children (a 10 month old, two three (3) year olds and one 4 year old) were unattended in the residence.

Detectives located and seized a large amount of Marijuana and some smaller quantities packaged for street sales, with a combined total weight of approximately three (3) Pounds. Also seized were Ecstasy Pills, packaging materials, drug scales and $ 3,000.00 in cash, three handguns and ammunition.

The Connecticut State DCF (Department of Children and Family) were contacted and responded to the scene to ensure the safe placement of the children.  Girlfriend of Jones, Genise SCALES, returned to the home during the search and was also arrested for Risk of Injury relative to the 4 children found alone in the residence.

Both arrested subjects were transported to State Police Troop-G were processed and held on bond.

CHARGES:   Possession of Marijuana, Possession Marijuana with intent to sell, Possession over 1 Kilogram Marijuana, Possession of Hallucinogen, Possession Hallucinogen WITS, Operating a Drug Factory, Possession of Marijuana and Hallucinogens W/I 1500 feet of School (2 counts)

Risk of Injury to Minors (4 Counts), Criminal Possession of Firearms (3 Counts)

    

BOND: $250,000.00. COURT: GA#2-Bridgeport for 11/20/2009
