               STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED

                            BANK ROBBERY

CORNWALL-On Tuesday 04/28/09 at 9:34 a.m. State Police were notified of an alarm of a bank robbery that had just taken place at the National Iron Bank on Rt. 7 in Cornwall CT.

Connecticut State Troopers responded to the scene and secured the scene.  Troopers obtained preliminary information and determined that a lone male had entered the bank displayed a handgun and demanded money.  The suspect the bank fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries. 

State Police K-9 Teams responded and conducted search of the area.  All surrounding police agencies were notified of the details of this robbery and suspect description.

State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the scene to process the crime scene and initiate the investigation into this robbery.

Witnesses provided a physical description of the suspect as being 5’7”-5’5” 155lbs, dark jeans, cream colored shirt and baseball cap.

State Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the bank at the time of this incident and may have seen anything is asked to contact Connecticut State Police at 860 824-2500
