**UPDATE**

STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN TRUMBULL FATAL HIT AND RUN

     Connecticut State Police conducted an extensive investigation and received assistance from the media  in the car vs pedestrian evading fatal accident that occurred on Rt. 8 in Trumbull,    Connecticut. Connecticut State Police recovered the evading car at a residence in Bridgeport on March 11, 2009.   Investigating State Troopers then developed information to identify the driver of the evading vehicle at the time of the fatal crash.

     On 03/12/09 Connecticut State Troopers and State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives developed and followed additional leads in this case and determined that the suspect was attempting to flee the country. Connecticut State Troopers obtained assistance from the New York / New Jersey Port Authority Police the suspect was located and apprehended as he attempted to board an airplane at J.F.K. International Airport destined for El Salvador at 0900 hours on Thursday 3/12/09.

     State Police Troopers at Troop G Bridgeport submitted an arrest warrant application to Superior Court for the arrest of this suspect driver. The arrest warrant was issued for the accused from GA# 2 Bridgeport for the arrest of the accused. 

     The accused was held in New York as Fugitive From justice from the State of Connecticut. On 03/13/09 shortly after midnight the accused was presented in Court in New York for an extradition hearing.  The accused waived extradition and was turned over to Connecticut State Police to return to Connecticut.

     The accused was transported by State Police to Connecticut State Police Troop G Bridgeport where shortly after 2:00 a.m.on 03/13/09 the accused was processed and held on bond.  The accused will be arraigned in Superior Court GA #2 Bridgeport today 03/13/09

Charges:  Evading Responsibility(felony) 14-224(a)
              Operating a motor vehicle without a license 14-36(a).

The accused is being held on $250,000 bond and will appear today 03/13/09 at GA #2 Bridgeport.

No additional arrest are anticipated in this case
