STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE AND ARREST SUSPECT

IN ASSAULT OF CHILD

Date of Incident: 03/16/07

Location: 18 Pheasant Run Drive Montville, CT

ARRESTED: Hamilton, Brent S     DOB: 02/11/88

                        170 Depot Road Montville, CT

CHARGES: Assault 1st Degree

                     Risk of Injury to Minor

     On Friday, March 16, 2007 at approximately 09:53 A.M. Montville Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call from 18 Pheasant Run Drive Montville reporting of an unresponsive baby at the residence.  EMS personnel and ambulance from the Oakdale Fire Department responded as did State Troopers from Troop E and Officer from the Montville Resident Troopers Office.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a baby unresponsive in the home. EMS provided emergency care and transported the baby by ambulance to the W.W. Backus Hospital. 

W.W. Backus Hospital Emergency Personnel determined that the 21 month old child had suffered severe head injury and was transferred to the Yale New Haven Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in serious condition.

State Police Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Unit Troop E Montville were responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into this incident.

State Police Detectives arrested the above subject, Brent Hamilton for the assault. Hamilton was arrested in strength of an arrest warrant for Assault 1st and Risk of Injury to a Minor. He was transported to Troop E was processed and held in lieu of a $100,000 court set bond pending his arraignment in court on 03/22/07.
