VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

Voters wishing to switch parties in order to participate in a different party’s presidential primary must do so by January 28th

(HARTFORD) – Secretary of the State Denise Merrill wants voters to know that if they are registered in one party, but want to vote in a different party’s presidential primary, they must change their registration by January 28th.

Voters can check their current registration status at myvote.ct.gov/lookup, and make any desired changes to their registration at myvote.ct.gov/register.

Unaffiliated voters – voters who are not registered with any party – and new voters have until Thursday, April 23rd to register online, by mail, or at the DMV with the party in whose primary they’d like to participate, and until Monday, April 27th to register in person.

There are currently 2,192,828 active voters registered in Connecticut. 895,218 are registered as unaffiliated voters, 803,802 are registered in the Democratic Party, 459,403 are registered in the Republican Party, and 34,405 are registered in some other party.

Connecticut will hold the Democratic and Republican presidential primary elections on Tuesday, April 28th.
