SECRETARY MERRILL LAUNCHES STATEWIDE “RIGHTFULLY HERS” EDUCATIONAL SUFFGRAGE DISPLAY

Suffrage Centennial Poster Display being provided to all 169 towns in collaboration with Department of Education

(HARTFORD) – Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today announced that her office, in collaboration with the Department of Education, will be distributing a “pop-up” version of the National Archives Rightfully Hers suffrage exhibit, currently on display in Washington, D.C.

The exhibit, which is being distributed to each of the 169 towns in Connecticut, consists of four large posters featuring messaging and facts about the largest expansion of democracy in American history. The posters will serve as interactive educational tools in schools, libraries, and public spaces around the state in recognition of the centennial anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

“Our statewide Suffrage Centennial Celebration is just beginning, and we want to involve municipalities every step along the way. I see this display as the perfect educational tool to mark the occasion of this anniversary in each and every town, and am so grateful to Commissioner Cardona for his help in supporting that goal,” said Secretary Merrill.

High-resolution versions of the posters can be viewed and downloaded here:
