Statement of Secretary of the State Denise Merrill on the Mueller Press Conference and Cybersecurity

“Today, Special Counsel Robert Mueller reaffirmed that ‘[t]here were multiple systematic efforts to interfere in our election. And that allegation deserves the attention of every American.’

“In the world of election administration this has had our full, rapt attention since the 2016 election. Protecting our elections, and our voters’ faith in those elections, from foreign interference is our most important job. The threat is real, serious, and current.

“That’s why I proposed investing in our elections cybersecurity infrastructure in the current budget. Connecticut must commit to protecting our elections from foreign governments, and we must do it now.”
