Secretary of the State Denise Merrill Statement on the Senate Failure to Pass Early Voting Constitutional Amendment

“Last year, I said I was disappointed that the proposal didn’t get through both chambers, but that I was resolved to reintroduce early voting and to continue the fight. Consider me even more so: more disappointed that the amendment failed to pass the Senate, and more resolved to continue fighting until Connecticut voters have the same ability to vote with convenience that the voters of 37 other states and the District of Columbia already enjoy.

“46 million Americans voted prior to Election Day in 2016 – I won’t stop fighting until Connecticut voters can join them.” – Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill
