In order to practice social distancing and slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), public access to our building, 165 Capitol Avenue, will be restricted. Although in-person interactions will be limited, our office staff will be available via email as normal. Secretary of the State Denise Merrill Statement on SCOTUS Ruling in Husted v. A. Phillip Randolph Institute

“Simply not voting is not and should not be a reason to prevent otherwise eligible voters from exercising their right to vote in the future. Today’s decision in Husted is a blow to efforts to remove barriers to voting, and will make it easier for states to remove eligible voters from their voter rolls. In Ohio, as throughout American history, the burden of being removed from the voter rolls fell more heavily on people of color, the poor, and those with disabilities.
