SECRETARY MERRILL STATEMENT ON THE US HOUSE PASSAGE OF BILL TO ALLOW CONCEALED CARRY ACROSS STATE LINES

“In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, Connecticut passed sweeping gun violence prevention reforms after an unprecedented, emotional, and heart-breaking series of public hearings and a bipartisan vote.

It is sickening that Republicans in Congress have responded to recent gun massacres by voting to invalidate Connecticut’s strong gun safety laws and allow NRA lobbyists in other states to determine our concealed carry laws.

The U.S. Senate should join Connecticut’s Senators Dick Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and all five of our Representatives, police chiefs across the country, and advocates for domestic violence and reject this power grab by the NRA.”
