Change in Council Policy
Notice of Council Policy
This notice reflects the changes in numbers for subject areas either added to or deleted from the new “Basic Training Curriculum” adopted by the POST Council on May 1, 2008 and went into effect January 1, 2009.
The Legislature’s Regulation Review Committee has approved a number of new regulations for the Council and permitted the amendment of others. Council Regulation 7-294e-13, which governs the renewal of certificates, has been amended to read as follows:
Sec. 7-294e-13(b)(1)
“Taught at least one class per year in each area in which they have held law enforcement instructor certification since obtaining certification unless the subject area, for which recertification is being sought, is approved by the Council for recertification on a triennial basis.”
In order to operationalize this regulation, the Council, on June 9, 1994, voted to take the following actions to implement the change.
All law enforcement instructors who have been awarded certification in one or more of the following subject areas are required to have taught at least one class per year in each area in which they have held law enforcement instructor certification in order to be eligible for renewal:
201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 208A, 301, 301A, 302, 302A, 302B, 302C, 302D, 304, 306, 306A, 306B, 308, 308A, 308B, 308C, 308D, 308E, 308F, 509A, 525, 608, 608A, 610, 610B, 615, 622, 624, 625, 626, 627 and 628.
All other subject areas for which the Council awards law enforcement instructor certification are approved by the Council for recertification on a triennial basis. (Emphasis added)
