Subject:            Council Action–Adoption of Standardized Pre-Employment

                              Polygraph Examination Pre-Test Question Booklet

At its meeting on January 18, 2007, the Police Officer Standards and Training Council formally adopted a newly revised version of the Standardized Pre-Employment Polygraph Examination Pre-Test Question Booklet.  This booklet is to be employed for all post offer of employment polygraph examinations.

This revision is a result of many months of work by the Connecticut Polygraph Association, the Council’s legal representative from the Attorney General’s Office, Attorney Stephen Sarnoski and the staff here at the Connecticut Police Academy.

The revision reflects areas of conduct and misconduct that may not have been covered in the older version of the booklet.

This version bears the words on each page, copyright “State of Connecticut, 2006.”

The newly revised version will be distributed to members of the Connecticut Polygraph Association at their next scheduled meeting, January 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Connecticut Police Academy.

Any other polygrapher who conducts pre-employment polygraphs for any agency that falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Officer Standards and Training Council may secure a copy of this booklet by contacting my office in writing on official stationery or by contacting our Certification Officer, Mr. Gary C. Administration of a polygraph examination as an entry-level requirement is specified in  the Regulations of the Police Officer Standards and Training Council, Section 7-294e-16(i)(3), in General Notice 94-04 and in General Notice 96-05 which requires that a polygraph examination must have been administered within 182 days of appointment to a police position.
