Gov. Malloy Statement on the FCC’s Proposal to Repeal Net Neutrality Rules

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement regarding a proposal by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to repeal net neutrality rules and give internet providers broad powers to determine what websites their customers can use:

“The Trump administration’s proposal to dismantle net neutrality regulations is an all-out assault on our free and open internet. Rolling back these critical safeguards will allow internet service providers to slow or even block access to websites as they see fit, creating an environment where a select few will be able to control what we can access online. As technology has woven its way into the fabric of our daily lives, open access to the internet has become essential to our economic competitiveness and the success of our students. Today’s announcement is anti-consumer, anti-competitive, and flies in the face of the best interests of Connecticut’s individuals and businesses. I strongly urge the FCC to hold public hearings on this critical matter and let the voices of the American people be heard.”
