Gov. Malloy Announces ‘Q Bridge’ to be Lit Red, White, and Blue for Veterans Day
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven – informally known as the Q Bridge – will be lit red, white, and blue on the nights of Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11, in observation of Veterans Day. Beacons capable of projecting light nearly six miles into the clear night sky will be lit until 1:00 a.m. during those nights.
“Veterans represent the very best of our nation,” Governor Malloy said. “On this day we join all of the residents of our state in honoring the service and sacrifices that the men and women of our military have made to protect our freedom. America’s men and women in uniform – and their families – have made immeasurable sacrifices in the course of their service, and we are deeply grateful for their bravery and courage. We also continue to pray for the thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who are currently on active duty and deployed across the world, away from their families for extended periods of time, in the defense of our democracy. We hope for their safe and speedy return.”
“Our veterans have made extraordinary sacrifices in service to our nation, and we are honored to stand with them on Veterans Day and every day,” Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman said. “We take every opportunity to reflect on their service and recognize all they have done to help build and sustain our democracy. We thank them, and their families, for their integrity and courage.”- Twitter: @GovMalloyOffice
