Gov. Malloy: UConn Receives Highest Position to Date in Survey of Nation’s Top Public Universities

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today are congratulating the University of Connecticut on receiving its highest ranking to date among the nation’s top public universities, having reached No. 18 on this year’s U.S. News & World Report list and marking its seventh consecutive year in the Top 25. UConn was one of 1,389 national public and private universities ranked as part of this year’s U.S. News survey.

“Over the last several years, UConn has solidified its reputation as a world class institution of higher learning,” Governor Malloy said. “Historic investments have led to increased student enrollment, including a more competitive and diverse student body. We could not be more proud that, as a result of these accomplishments, our state’s flagship university has attained its highest-yet ranking in this year’s U.S. News & World Report. At number 18 among public universities, and its seventh consecutive year in the top 25, we are sending a clear message to students and families across Connecticut – and the nation – that UConn is a premier academic institution to lay the groundwork for a 21st century career. We are grateful for the steady leadership and vision of UConn President Susan Herbst and Chairman Larry McHugh.”
