Gov. Malloy Announces Jordan Scheff to Serve as Acting Commissioner of the Department of Developmental Services

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Jordan A. Scheff of Vernon, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS), will temporarily serve in the position of Acting Commissioner of the agency while a search is being conducted to permanently fill the role.

As was announced last month, Morna Murray, who has served as Commissioner of the department since February 2015, is leaving state service to pursue other professional opportunities. Her last day with the agency was Thursday, January 19.

“I want to thank Morna for her service to our state and to the Department of Developmental Services. She has been a tremendous asset and we all wish her the very best in her next endeavors,” Governor Malloy said. “Jordan Scheff has many years of experience serving alongside the men, women, and children of our state who utilize the programs and services that DDS provides. I have no doubt that he will be able to build upon the real progress that has been made at the agency and I want to thank him for taking on this responsibility.”

Scheff has worked at DDS since 2012, where he has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department’s operations, inclusive of public programs, private programs, clinical services, forensic services, labor relations, grants, and information technology. Prior to joining the agency, he served for ten years as Executive Director of MARCH, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Manchester that provides residential programs to accommodate the needs and individual wishes of persons who have developmental disabilities.
