Gov. Malloy Appoints Charles Gray as Chair of the Connecticut Airport Authority
Also Reappoints Mary Ellen S. Jones and Brett Browchuk to Serve as Members
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is appointing Charles R. Gray of Stamford to serve as chair of the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) Board of Directors. The current chair, Mary Ellen S. Jones, is being reappointed as a member. In addition, Brett C. Browchuk of Avon will be reappointed to another four-year term.
"We created the Connecticut Airport Authority several years ago to ensure that the economic development potential of our state's airports are realized to their fullest extent, and since its creation it has delivered tangible results. Those results have been in very large part due to the hard work and forward thinking of Mary Ellen S. Jones, and I want to thank her for that leadership," Governor Malloy said. "I am confident by working together, we can continue to strategically utilize our airports as an economic driver that will further boost jobs and increase business growth in our state. I'm also confident that Charles Gray has the necessary international business and marketing experience and skills to lead that work, and I thank him for accepting this appointment as chair of the board."
Gray has served as a member of the board since its establishment in 2011. He currently is the Sales Leader for NCR's Hosted Solutions Group, where he is responsible for all sales, account management, and client relationships across North and Latin America. The Hosted Solutions Group focuses on cloud applications for the hospitality industry. Prior to NCR, he served as Vice President of IT for California Pizza Kitchen and Cosi, two national restaurant chains. He has also served on advisory boards related to the hospitality industry with a focus on the use of information technology, and is a frequent speaker and panelist at several industry conferences.
"Over the last four years, I have been honored to help in the transformation of Connecticut's airports into innovative, customer-focused aviation centers, as the Governor charged us to do," Gray said. "We have made tremendous progress, and are poised for more successes in the future. Because the work ahead is so promising, I'm deeply grateful to be nominated by Governor Malloy to lead this unified, dynamic board."
The CAA was established in 2011 to develop, improve, and operate Bradley International Airport and the state's five general aviation airports (Danielson, Groton-New London, Hartford-Brainard, Waterbury-Oxford, and Windham) with a goal of making them more attractive to new airlines, develop more routes, and support the state's overall economic development and growth strategy. It is led by an 11-member, volunteer Board of Directors, who have a broad spectrum of experience in aviation-related and other industries.
