Gov. Malloy Announces American Airlines to Launch Daily Service Between Bradley International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) today announced that American Airlines will soon debut new daily, nonstop service between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

"This new flight further connects us to the world - it's good for business and it's good for residents," Governor Malloy said.  "Our future as a state is linked directly to our transportation system, and as we build up Bradley Airport, we are helping businesses large and small.  This announcement is indeed another step forward for Connecticut."

The service will commence on June 2, 2016, utilizing Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a 150-seat configuration.  The daily departure from Bradley is scheduled at 7:00 a.m. with an arrival in Los Angeles at 10:00 a.m.  The inbound flight is scheduled to depart Los Angeles at 9:00 p.m. and arrive at Bradley at 5:20 a.m.  Tickets will go on sale on January 23.

"The CAA is pleased to welcome the American Airlines Bradley to LAX route and the benefits it will bring to our business and leisure travelers," CAA Board Chair Mary Ellen Jones said.  "The addition of this service enhances the travel opportunities for passengers traveling from Bradley to our nation's most desirable cities."

"As we seek to enhance our passengers' overall travel experience through Bradley, we are looking to expand our growing menu of non-stop destinations," CAA Executive Director Kevin Dillon said.  "By partnering with airlines to introduce services such as this one we are providing our passengers easier access to our nation's most popular destinations and beyond.  We are pleased to see an expanded American Airlines footprint at Bradley and we look forward to our ongoing partnership.  A primary air service goal of the CAA was the initiation of West Coast service, and we are pleased to announce that we have achieved this goal in partnership with American Airlines."

The American Airlines Bradley to LAX announcement follows the CAA's recent launch of United Airlines service to Denver, Colorado and the anticipated introduction of non-stop Aer Lingus service to Dublin, Ireland in September.
