Gov. Malloy Nominates Four Connecticut Residents to Fill Vacancies on the Superior Court
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is nominating four Connecticut residents to fill vacancies on the Connecticut Superior Court, including Alice A. Bruno of New Britain; John B. Farley of West Hartford; Gerald L. Harmon of Southington; and Edward T. Krumeich, II of Greenwich.
"The smart selections we make for the court today will help deliver a brighter Connecticut tomorrow. Selecting qualified, diverse nominees is not an easy task - we do it exceptionally carefully because these decisions impact our future, and we're working to build a Connecticut for the long-run, for everyone. That's why these selections are so important, and that's why it's so vital to find candidates who are representative of our diverse population," Governor Malloy said. "The nominees we are announcing today will be a great addition to our Superior Court and I am confident that they will serve the state with distinction."
Background on the nominees:
- Alice A. Bruno has been a member of the bar for thirty-four years, having served most recently as Special Counsel to the Secretary of the State providing legal support to elections staff and registrars of voters. Attorney Bruno served as the Deputy Chief Clerk in the New Haven Judicial District and as a magistrate in the Superior Court presiding over housing, motor vehicle and small claims matters. She was formerly a partner at Tyler, Cooper & Alcorn handling general civil litigation in both state and federal courts prior to forming the firm of Edmonds and Bruno. Attorney Bruno has also served as the Executive Director of the Connecticut Bar Association, served on the Federal Grievance Committee for District of Connecticut, and currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. She holds a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, with honors, a Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Tufts University.
"I am deeply honored by the confidence that Governor Malloy has shown in me by nominating me to the Connecticut Superior Court," Bruno said. "If confirmed as a judge, I will serve with dedication and an abiding commitment to the administration of justice."
- John B. Farley is a partner in the firm of Halloran & Sage, LLP where he co-chairs both the Appellate Practice Group and the Business Litigation Practice Group. He is a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and has handled a broad range of litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts for over 27 years. Attorney Farley also serves as the Chair of his firm's Pro Bono Committee. He holds a law degree from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in political science also from the University of Connecticut and an A. B. from Georgetown University.
"I am honored that Governor Malloy has nominated me to be a judge of the Superior Court and I thank the governor for the trust he has placed in me," Farley said. "If confirmed, I will work hard to fulfill that trust by serving the citizens of Connecticut with dedication and impartiality."
- Gerald L. Harmon is the principle of the Law Offices of Gerald L. Harmon practicing criminal defense in both state and federal courts as well as civil litigation for over 15 years. Attorney Harmon has also served as a special public defender for the State of Connecticut and on the Federal Criminal Justice Panel. Attorney Harmon early in his career was an associate with the law firm of Wiggin and Dana. He holds a J.D. law degree from Boston College Law School, an M.B.A. from Bentley College and a B.S. from The University of Dayton.
"I am both honored and humbled by the nomination to the State Superior Court and look forward to serving as an advocate for justice and fairness for all parties that come before me," Harmon said.
- Edward T. Krumeich, II is a member of the law firm of Ivey, Barnum and O'Mara where he has served for thirty-two years with experience in commercial, construction and real estate litigation in both state and federal courts. Attorney Krumeich has also served as a Special Master mediating special proceedings in the Stamford Superior Court. He began his career as a Law Clerk to Judge Anthony J. Celebrezze on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and practiced for six years in New York City in the areas of commercial and securities litigation. Attorney Krumeich holds a J. D. law degree from Case Western Reserve University and a B.A. from Hamilton College.
