WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS REOPENING OF WRIGHT TECH IN STAMFORD; MAKES STATEWIDE ANNOUNCEMENT ON BROWNFIELDS; SPEAKS AT SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a ceremony celebrating the grand reopening of J.M. Wright Technical High School in Stamford. Planning for the revival of Wright Tech began shortly after the school suspended operations in 2009. The school will reopen its doors on Wednesday, welcoming 145 incoming freshmen students.

At noon, Governor Malloy will hold a news conference in Bridgeport to announce a series of grants for the revitalization and rehabilitation of vacant and blighted properties throughout the state, putting the lands back into productive use. He will be joined by Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Rob Klee, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, and other state and local officials.

Later, Governor Malloy will speak at Sacred Heart University's 2014 New Student Convocation. This year's class of incoming freshmen marks the school's largest incoming class ever admitted.
