GOV. MALLOY AND LT. GOV. WYMAN STATEMENTS ON THE PASSING OF MARGARET 'PEG' DIGNOTI
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following statements regarding the passing of Margaret Dignoti of Newington, who has been recognized as a champion in the state for individuals with disabilities, most notably through her work as Executive Director for the Arc of Connecticut, a nonprofit advocacy group:
Governor Malloy said, "Our state lost one of its best advocates for the disability community with the passing of Margaret Dignoti. Peg worked long and hard on the issues she believed in, and without a doubt our state is a better place for her having lived in it. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and the entire community as they mourn her loss."
Lt. Governor Wyman said, "This is a sad day for Connecticut. Peg was a strong voice for people living with disabilities. Her efforts raised awareness, but more importantly, her legacy is a state that is a better place to live and work for everyone."
