THURSDAY TO SATURDAY: GOV. MALLOY MEETS WITH NATION'S GOVERNORS
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a meeting of the Council of Governors, a congressionally-authorized body that includes 10 state governors to address matters of national security, homeland defense, synchronization and integration of state and federal military activities in the United States and matters of mutual interest pertaining to the National Guard. Governor Malloy was appointed to the group by President Barack Obama in 2013.
On Friday and Saturday, Governor Malloy will attend the National Governors Association (NGA) Summer Meeting, where he will meet with governors from across the country to discuss issues impacting states in several areas, including education, workforce, health care, veterans and jobs. Through NGA, governors share best practices, speak with a collective voice on national policy, and develop innovative solutions that improve state government and support the principles of federalism. Governor Malloy currently serves as vice chairman of NGA's Natural Resources Committee.
