GOV. MALLOY: STATE MONITORING HURRICANE ARTHUR
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today said that the state Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Arthur for any potential impacts on the state.

"Although the latest forecast does not have Arthur severely impacting the state, we need to continue to monitor the storm's path," said Governor Malloy. "This storm is a great reminder that we need to be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at us as we move into the height of hurricane season."

DEMHS is monitoring this storm very closely and is prepared to coordinate any potential state response. DEMHS, a division within the Department of Emergency Service and Public Protection, is participating in ongoing National Weather Service conference calls to get the latest information on the storms track and is sending out regular updates to all municipalities and the tribal nations.
The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center is that Arthur will turn to the northeast on Friday, accelerate, and move southeast of Cape Cod by early Saturday morning. North winds Friday night may gust to 30 MPH at times along the southeast coast. Tides are expected to run within 1 foot of normal and rainfall is expected to total 1 - 3 inches, which may cause some local urban flooding.
