TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY COMMEMORATES ANNIVERSARY OF PAID SICK LEAVE LAW; ATTENDS ANNOUNCEMENT ON COLLINSVILLE DAM
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a news conference with U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, U.S. Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty and Canton First Selectman Richard Barlow to announce the passage of the Collinsville Renewable Energy Promotion Act into federal law. The act permits the Town of Canton to operate two currently inactive hydropower dams and generate locally-produced power.
Following that, Governor Malloy will participate in a news conference at the State Capitol in Hartford to commemorate the third anniversary of Connecticut's law providing paid sick leave to certain service workers. Governor Malloy signed the law -
Public Act 11-52
- on July 1, 2011. He will be joined at the ceremony by legislators, advocates and workers who have benefitted from the law.
