THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS EVENTS IN SIMSBURY, NEW HAVEN, CROMWELL AND HARTFORD
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony in Simsbury to commemorate a housing facility being developed by the Connecticut Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that will become the first supportive, affordable and accessible independent living apartment complex in the region for individuals living with multiple sclerosis.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will participate in a news conference marking the one-year anniversary of New Haven Works and celebrating the 250 newly-employed New Haven residents that the non-profit agency assisted through its partnerships with the business community. Also attending will be New Haven Mayor Toni Harp, Attorney General George Jepson, President of New Haven Board of Alders Jorge Perez, New Haven Works Executive Director Mary Reynolds, participating employers, and newly-employed New Haven residents.
In the evening, Governor Malloy will attend the Partnership for Strong Communities "Reaching Home Dinner" in Cromwell, where he will be honored for his efforts committing unprecedented resources to affordable housing in Connecticut. Since taking office three and a half years ago, Connecticut has committed nearly $750 million to preserve or construct new affordable housing units across our state - the largest investment in affordable housing in our state in decades.
Later, Governor Malloy will speak at the Hartford Public Library's "One Big Summer Night" event, which benefits the programs and services the library provides to thousands of adults, children and families.
