GOV. MALLOY: GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE OPEN FOR PUBLIC TOURS SATURDAY FROM 10AM TO 2PM
Residence Participating in 10th Annual Connecticut Open House Day
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Governor's Residence will be participating in the state's 10th annual Connecticut Open House Day and will be open to the public for tours from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
Connecticut Open House Day is an annual event coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Tourism that encourages residents to explore the state's exciting destinations and attractions - new and old - by offering special incentives for one day only, such as free or reduced admission, free gifts, or special exhibits and activities. Dozens of arts, history and tourism attractions throughout the state will be participating, the full list of which can be found on the state's tourism website , www.CTvisit.com .
"In addition to opening the Governor's Residence for public tours, the annual Connecticut Open House Day is a great opportunity for both tourists and residents alike to visit the museums, galleries, theaters, vineyards, shops and historic properties that make Connecticut so unique," Governor Malloy said. "I encourage everyone to check out the full list of the participating attractions on the state's tourism website, www.CTvisit.com , and take advantage of the opportunities being offered for the day."
The Governor's Residence is located at 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford. Docents will be available for tours of the residence during the open house, and - weather permitting - will include the outdoor sculpture park, which features artwork donated by local artists, and the garden, designed by the architectural landscape program at UConn. There is no admittance fee and tickets are not needed. Governor Malloy will attend the open house for a portion of the day, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Information about the history of the Connecticut Governor's Residence can be found on the Governor's website .
