GOV. MALLOY'S COMMON CORE TASKFORCE TO MEET, HEAR PRESENTATIONS ON BEST PRACTICES

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Educators' Common Core Implementation Taskforce is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, May 14, at Cromwell High School, 1 Donald Harris Drive in Cromwell. The meeting will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held in library.

The taskforce will first hear presentations on best practices in implementing the Common Core State Standards by Litchfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Deborah S. Wheeler and Stamford Schools Superintendent Dr. Winifred Hamilton. Following their presentations, the taskforce will continue to discuss best practices as they work towards making recommendations on improving implementation of the Standards.

Governor Malloy created the taskforce by executive order to ensure that the input of the teachers, education professionals, and parents who are directly involved in the day-to-day activities of our public school system, is included in the process of implementing the Standards. The taskforce is comprised of 25 members, including 11 teachers, four principals, four superintendents or district curriculum leaders, two parents, two local board of education members, one school counselor and the Chief Academic Officer of Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE).
