GOV. MALLOY CONGRATULATES SIX CONNECTICUT COMPANIES THAT RECEIVED NASA CONTRACTS TO DEVELOP AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY AND ASSIST WITH SPACE EXPLORATION
Assistance from Connecticut Innovations Helped Aerospace Companies Secure Federal Contracts
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today praised the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announcement that it has awarded six Connecticut companies contracts valued at $125,000 each to conduct feasibility studies that could lead to advances in space exploration and aerospace technology. The companies received support from Connecticut Innovations (CI) through the organization's grant, loan, equity and talent programs.
"As we continue to focus on attracting and supporting the growth of innovative businesses, I congratulate these groundbreaking companies for the work they are doing in Connecticut and on the national level to support NASA, contribute to the advancement of space exploration and develop cutting-edge aerospace technologies," said Governor Malloy. "This is an accomplishment the companies should be proud of and we look forward to seeing the results of their research."
The following companies received contracts from NASA's Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs:
  • Proton Energy Systems (Wallingford)
  • Precision Combustion (North Haven)
  • Flightware (Guilford)
  • Materials Technologies Corporation (Monroe)
  • Qualtech Systems, Inc. (East Hartford)
  • Sustainable Innovations, LLC (Glastonbury)
  • Thoughtventions Unlimited (Glastonbury)*
*Company did not receive assistance from Connecticut Innovations.
The companies are being tasked to conduct a number of different areas of research, from developing high pressure oxygen generation systems for future space exploration missions to energy-efficient carbon dioxide storage systems. Thoughtventions and Qualtech Systems, Inc. each received two separate awards from NASA under the contract.
