GOV. MALLOY'S COMMON CORE TASKFORCE TO MEET, HEAR PRESENTATION ON BEST PRACTICES
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Educators' Common Core Implementation Taskforce is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, April 30, at Cromwell High School, 1 Donald Harris Drive in Cromwell. The taskforce will first hear a presentation on best practices in implementing the Common Core State Standards by Norwich Public Schools Curriculum and Instruction Director Joe Stefon and its Administrative Literacy Specialist Kristie Bourdoulous. The taskforce will continue to discuss best practices as they work towards making recommendations on improving implementation of the Standards. The meeting will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held in library.

Governor Malloy created the taskforce last month by executive order to ensure that the input of the teachers, education professionals, and parents who are directly involved in the day-to-day activities of our public school system, is included in the process of implementing the Standards. The taskforce is comprised of 25 members, including 11 teachers, four principals, four superintendents or district curriculum leaders, two parents, two local board of education members, one school counselor and the Chief Academic Officer of the Department of Education.
Information on the group and documents related to its meetings can be found online.
