STATEMENT FROM GOV. MALLOY'S CHIEF OF STAFF ON SENATE CONFIRMATION OF COMMISSIONER DORA B. SCHRIRO

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy's Chief of Staff Mark Ojakian released the following statement regarding the vote in the State Senate this morning to confirm Dora B. Schriro as Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection. She was confirmed by a 31-4 vote .

"To vote against Dora Schriro, with her tremendous credentials in public safety and national security, is yet another example of shameless grandstanding by Republicans. Dora's resume speaks for itself. She will be a tremendous asset in our effort to keep crime at historic lows. Yet again, Republicans are putting politics above the people of Connecticut."
