MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY VISITS UNITED ILLUMINATING SUBSTATION IN BRIDGEPORT TO VIEW STORM RESILIENCY UPGRADES
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty will visit United Illuminating's Congress Street Substation in Bridgeport to view resiliency upgrades made at the facility that will protect it from floodwaters during severe weather events. During the height of Storm Sandy last year, the substation was forced to shut down because of impeding flooding, leaving thousands in the region without electricity.
