MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY COMMEMORATES VETERANS DAY AT EVENTS IN BRIDGEPORT, MIDDLETOWN AND NEW BRITAIN

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will commemorate Veterans Day by attending several events around the state.

At 11:00 a.m., Governor Malloy will join state and local officials for a bill signing ceremony in Bridgeport to celebrate passage of two new state laws improving services for Connecticut's veterans. The first, Public Act 13-57, provides honorary diplomas for Vietnam Era veterans who left high school early to join the armed forces. The second, Public Act 13-224, allows municipalities to increase the additional property tax exemption for "100% disabled" veterans with limited income from two to three times the veteran's base exemption.

At 2:00 p.m., Governor Malloy will join veterans, military officials and other local and state leaders for the annual Veterans Day wreath laying ceremony at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.

At 3:00 p.m., Governor Malloy will participate in Central Connecticut State University's Veterans Day Observance Ceremony in New Britain.
