TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY VISITS POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN SOUTHWESTERN CONNECTICUT

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit two tourist attractions in Southwestern Connecticut to showcase some of the popular destinations the state has to offer. In Connecticut, travel and tourism activities generate $11.5 billion annually in economic activity and are responsible for 110,000 jobs. The sector saw a 3.9% employment growth in 2012.

First, the Governor will visit the Bruce Museum in Greenwich. The museum is a regionally based, world-class institution highlighting art, science and natural history in more than a dozen changing exhibitions annually.

Second, the Governor will visit the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, which is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of art and popular culture, the natural and agricultural sciences, and history.

In addition, Governor Malloy will make a visit to the newly reopened Connecticut Welcome Center, located northbound on I-95 in Darien, which serves as a gateway location to the state. The service plaza reopened on June 5 after a one-year construction project.
